Urban City Hero's Inc is creating a program that specifically caters to the needs of low-income families with young people between the ages of 1 to 18. We envision a transformative experience that goes beyond traditional support systems. Our program not only seeks to provide a safe haven for these young individuals, but it also aims to instill a profound sense of self-esteem, confidence, and self-worth. By embracing the power of artistic expression and entertainment, we believe we can help these young people heal from any past traumas they may have experienced. Our goal is to unlock their true potential and empower them to thrive in all aspects of their lives. Through our unique approach, we offer a pageant that serves as a platform for these young individuals to showcase their talents and abilities. This not only encourages them to embrace their creativity but also provides opportunities for personal growth and development. We are passionate about creating a supportive community that nurtures these young individuals, allowing them to flourish and realize their dreams. Together, we can make a lasting impact on their lives and pave the way for a brighter future.
Our Solution Will provide holistic support to underprivileged youth in Urban City through a mentorship-driven pageant program. We will recruit caring mentors to provide guidance in developing talents, skills and confidence in participants. Mentors will nurture self-esteem and help young people translate past trauma into purpose.
two tracks catering to different age groups:
- Ages 1-12: Focus on discovering talents, building resilience and having fun through creative activities.
- Ages 13-18: Develop skills and interests in economic opportunities via talent showcases, entrepreneur workshops and job shadowing programs.
All participants will gain access to networks of support through group bonding events, success coaching and referrals to community resources as needed. The culminating event will showcase youth talents through a community talent show supporting a charitable cause.
Our solution empowers disadvantaged youth, redirects challenging upbringings into promise for the future and strengthens communities.
Our History
Urban City Heros was originally formed in 2015 as Elm City Pride Pageant out of a desire to connect parents with children interested in participating in a local pageant. Our inaugural live pageant event in that year brought together over 200 audience members to support 40 talented contestants as they showcased their abilities on stage.
Building on the success of that initial event, we have since expanded the pageant to include creative elements like an intermission fashion show and glow in the dark performances. This growth led us to establish a national platform in 2022 with the launch of our Mrs & Mr. Urban North Pageant. Through discounted ticket sales and toy drives, this Halloween-themed event for ages 1-5 allowed our young contestants to gain valuable experience while giving back to the community.
As we move forward, Urban City Heros aims to organize uplifting pageants and performances to promote talent, self-confidence, and charity among low-income families. Though still a startup, our early progress has unified participants and built enthusiasm that we hope to channel into further events and community service initiatives.
